What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. Parent Reviews
“Our daughter started going to Busy Bees when she was 9 months old, and yesterday she graduated a confident 5 year old. Being an only child and a little petite, we were constantly worried how she would cope and the teachers and the centre manager of Busy Bees have always been very supportive and caring and ensured she was well cared of but at the same time making her confident to face the world as well! I can’t thank the staff enough, they take care of children as their own. It’s difficult to keep an eye on each and every child, which we can very well understand. But the way our daughter has loved going there and made some lasting friends and memories, it re iterates that Busy Bees has good values and they truly have your best interests at heart.”
“DISAPPOINTED ‼️ My experience with Busy Bees Alfriston has unfortunately been disappointing. Despite both my wife and I working and relying on their services for our two children, our experience has not been satisfactory. While our older child seems to have been fine during his time there, our 8-month-old baby has come home with a rash on her bum on two separate occasions. This is particularly concerning as it suggests a lack of attention to hygiene and care. Furthermore, today when my sister-in-law picked up our kids from daycare, she was surprised to find our baby with dried snot on her nose. This raises further questions about the level of care and attention provided to the children at the daycare center. As parents, we entrust daycare facilities with the well-being of our children, and it's disheartening when that trust is compromised. I hope that Busy Bees Alfriston takes these concerns seriously and implements measures to ensure a higher standard of care and hygiene in the future. Overall, based on my experience, I cannot recommend Busy Bees Alfriston to other parents seeking reliable and high-quality daycare services for their children.”
“Very poor management, my son started when he was a baby. Being a single parent sometimes I call to check how he was and the manger was always very rude, ready to start fight. All the duration my son went I gone through the abuse and did not change his daycare thinking he is adjusted so should not disturb him. The worst happen when I found my son picking his nose and putting in mouth which showed the teachers never stop children from these habits. I called the manager to ask her if she talk to teachers and they be carful about this but when I called the manager said “it is okay if he is picking his nose and putting in his mouth as he is eating his own nose so he will be okay” I was shocked as there are no health and care or hygiene care. She further told me that while I am on phone talking to her if something happen to my son I will be responsible as she was at the floor with children, I was again shocked as my son was in daycare that time and I disconnect the call. First she should not pick the call if she was on floor busy with children second there should be the staff looking after children and how come she was by herself. There were several occasions she treated me so bad but on this I removed my son from this place and I was worried not sure he will be settled in other place or not but I realised in new daycare my son is way more happy. They do not change nappies at right time, do not feed them and ignore kids basic needs. I should take this step way earlier but I was too naive. Do not take your children to the place where they are not going to be treated hygienic way and with care”
“My daughter graduated [ECE] from here and we liked every bit of it. She spent approx. 3 years here at Busy Bees, Alfriston (Formerly known as Choice Kids, Alfriston) and graduated in September 2023. All the teachers here are simply amazing and caring. They loved our daughter a lot and also took care of her like their own child. Teachers are well qualified, well spoken, and understanding. Center manager is also very humble and understanding at all times. We as parents feel so proud that our daughter successfully completed the first step in her education journey from Busy bees, Alfriston. I can see the growth and changes in her and I am very well versed with all the learnings she did here at the center. Thank you to all the lovely and talented teachers, center manager and administration at Busy Bees, Alfriston for taking care of our daughter so well. She will miss you for sure. Good luck to you all.”
“The communication with this centre is the worst between the teachers and themselves and with parents. I sent my twins and they are always on the go, they had to cut the boys hours multiple times because it was to much for the teachers to handle. They would isolate my boys from group activities. I caught a staff member pulling on one of my sons hoodies just to pull him back, that is not okay on any level and raised that issue straight away. But the fact that they had someone looking after our babies who reacts like that is not on. What else goes on when parents aren’t around. They have a tummy bug going through the centre and they don’t think they should let parents know, the owner turned around and blamed me for where I take my kids, like it was my fault my kids got the bug. (It’s covid times, we don’t take our kids anywhere! So that was a load of bull) I would highly recommend you keep looking for a childcare centre. For the love of your child.”
