What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at BestStart Stokes Valley, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“When sending my children to daycare I was extremely anxious. I had a 6 month old and 2 year old. I had been a stay at home mum for the full 2 years with my oldest and had the mum guilts about going back to work while my second was only 6 months old. I searched many daycares but as soon as I walked into Stokes Valley best start I knew this was the one. The staff warm and welcoming, making you feel like family rather than the people that pay their wages. The centre was clean. The range of activities, equipment and toys for the kids to play is huge! Drop offs each morning where you can actually speak with a teacher and let them know how your child is and feel like they actually take on board what you say. And pick ups getting updates on the child’s day. Bonus is Storypark updates during the day! Photos of their personal performances but also group activities. Both my children have been made to feel at home and I can see the bonds they have made with their teachers. I can’t not recommend Best Start Stokes Valley enough!”
“I moved my daughter to BestStart Stokes Valley after having a bad experience with a previous centre and have absolutely loved the centre since she been there. Vicky and her team have always gone up and beyond with my daughter. Always offering cuddles when she upset or needs them, helped her get on track with her development (as she was behind on something) and booster confidence on somethings. Highly recommend it”
“The staff are excellent with my children and many have been psrt of my family for the last 8 years. The support, love, and opportunities afforded to my children through this centre are second-to-none and I do not hesitate to recommend the centre to other people.”
“My two children went to ABC and as a overly protective parent can assure you "youre children are in good hands" when i finally came to grips with the fact i had to let go.. My kids settled in fine. They both made lovely friends that they stay in touch with and even after my youngest finished in March she still asks to go back and say hello because she misses it! The children are well supervised and well fed. The centre is always to a great standard of clean and good hygeine practise. Kids have fun and enjoyed natural play learning from years 2011- 2016 Thank you to the wonderful staff that make this place so awesome! BEST WISHES TO YOU ALL.. X”
“ABC Stokes Valley is a wonderful centre in central Stokes Valley. The staff are passionate about offering quality education. Teachers build caring and genuine relationships with the children and their whanau so they can work in partnership to develop children's confidence and encourage learning. The teachers and children love being part of the Stokes Valley community and go for regular walks to the local parks and centre where we visit the library, supermarket and shops. ABC Stokes Valley has flexible options of care from 2 days a week part time, to full time, 5 days a week. There are also age appropriate learning spaces for babies and toddlers as well as preschool aged children.”
