About BestStart Queenstown
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at BestStart Queenstown, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“BestStart Queenstown is amazing, Emily is an exceptional manager and all of the staff are very caring and always go the extra mile for our kids! Highly recommend :)”
“BestStart have looked after both my daughters and I couldn't be happier with their service. Emily and her team are brilliant and I couldn't recommend them more - the staff are all wonderful and I know they are looking after my children with care. They are always helpful, always friendly and available to chat if needed. I love that they provide food, so I know that the girls are having a warm and nutritious meal and I don't have to pack a lunchbox! The fees are very reasonable and transparent. Highly recommend BestStart Queenstown.”
“My son has only just started daycare, and I feel that both he and I are very well looked after. I was nervous about leaving him (as most mums are) and Sophie and the girls at BestStart reassured me and offered me lots of settling visits to get us both used to it. He is always happy to go to daycare and reaches for Paige every time! I am no longer worried about leaving him, because I know that he will be happy and loves walking about climbing and playing there, and I know that when I go collect him I will be greeted with a very happy boy 'running' towards me!”
“We love it and could not be happier! The staff are SO friendly and made the transition for our daughter starting daycare so easy. The staff are always happy to have a chat when we pick her up, and have really made us feel welcome and you can tell they care about the kids. Our daughter starting daycare was so easy, it wasn't even a thing! The centre like a magical land for the kids, and now our daughter reaches for the teacher when we drop her off and doesn't like to leave when we pick her up :) So happy we're there!”
“We’re so happy with this Daycare centre. The staff are fantastic - so friendly and great with the little ones, and the facilities are really well considered with each age group having their own space. Love that there is the option to include a lunch each day instead of having to pack a lunch! My daughter loves going here and we couldn’t be happier with the place.”
