About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at BestStart Motutaiko Street, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Both my sons have gone to this childcare and I have to thank all the carers for helping raise my babies with me.”
“Having moved from the UK recently. It was always going to be difficult for me to leave my baby with total strangers. I had this daycare recommended to me and after viewing all the Daycares in Taupo (literally) BestStart Motutaiko was by far the best!! The warmth you get from the practitioners as soon as you enter, my little girl fell in love and was happy enough to crawl freely in this new space. The staff are very thorough and make sure they find out everything about your little one before hand. You are free to attend the setting at anytime up until your start date, or even if you don’t have one, the staff make it clear you can have more than one viewing so that you feel comfortable, confident and content with leaving your child with them. This also helps baby to settle. The staff listen to your needs for your child, they follow your routine and most importantly babies routine!! They don’t judge, disagree or discourage anything that you want for your child and are really happy to go along with what your child wants. They encourage children’s learning by giving them the independence to explore and gain confidence but still staying close so that the child feels safe, secure and comforted at all times. Thank you baby room!!”
