What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at BestStart Bader Street, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“I liked this daycare at first. My kids enjoyed it and they were fed well. But the first problem was a teacher refusing my child food. That was resolved and then my daughter came home saying a relief teacher smacked her little brother for not wanting a nappy change. The next problem was hidden fees they advertise 4years get 30 hours free. My children went for 30 hours per week the daycare was receiving 20hours ECE from work and income and they still tried to charge me when I was not meant to be paying them at all. Once I removed my children from this childcare, one of the teachers were showing photos of my kids to other people outside of the daycare and talking inappropriately luckily I knew the person and word got back to me Don't recommend this place one bit”
“They have a good communication with parents and the centre is always flexible which is beneficial for working people. Maintaining the high standards and the teachers are so friendly with the kids. My girl loves this place.”
