What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. “Absolutely love this center! We started in July last year in the under 2s center and within a month she was talking so much more than at her previous center! You could see the passion and care from her kaiako. In the overs center she has a special bond with all her kaiako and is super excited to go in the mornings and always goes on to have the best days . Moving her to this center was the best decision we’ve made!”

“My 9 month old has been attending Aniwaniwa for a few months now and you can just see the huge impact the staff have had on him, he has been able to feel safe and make friends which has been amazing. He loves being there from his very first visit. This gives him the opportunity to interact with other and be in a different environment learning new activities while still having so much fun. Thank you to all the beautiful staff that help all our tamariki to feel safe ☺️”

“We changed kindergartens at the end of July. In the first one, my child was absolutely unhappy, but here she immediately felt comfortable. The staff are all incredibly friendly, loving, attentive, and helpful. We had a good feeling from the beginning, and it was confirmed. The exchange of information, pictures, and conversations are always very thorough, and you can see how much love everyone on site has for taking care of the children. The outdoor area is great for running around and playing in the sandbox, and indoors, there’s everything a child’s heart desires. The activities offered and the preparation for school are also great and well thought out. The children have a wonderful place to develop individually, and they are warmly supported in doing so. We couldn’t imagine a better kindergarten.”

“Amazing center, teachers and management are so friendly and welcoming. My children started about 2 months ago and they settled in so quickly, they both absolutely love all their teachers, and are excited every morning about going back. There has been a big improvement in staffing recently, and it has had such a good impact on the running of the center. Definitely recommend!”

“After relocating to Masterton, we were apprehensive about finding a suitable daycare for our one-year-old son, as he was very happy at his previous daycare in Wellington. However, Varleen and her team have done a fantastic job maintaining this new daycare. The teacher-to-student ratio is excellent, and after just two settling visits, our son has adapted well. The cleanliness and hygiene are well-maintained, and there is a good variety of toys available for the children. The staff is very friendly.”
