About Ako Adventures
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Ako Adventures, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“I cannot speak highly enough of Ako Adventures and the teachers. I moved my son over from another centre and he just thrived at Ako. All the teachers and support staff are absolutely amazing! The teachers have such a special bond with the kids and the kids needs are absolutely paramount which is what all parents want! I recommend Ako to everyone!!! I wish I had found them sooner!!!!”
“I have absolutely loved Ako Adventures. They watched 2 of my children and they grew and thrived in their environment. It was sad that we had to leave due to relocating, but if we were in the area we would definitely come back! All staff were amazing towards me and my family. We thank you so much!!”
“My kids care have been with the Ako Team since 2021-ish, and we've never had a bad experience with them. The staff are warm and accepting to all kids and parents who come in, they're very culturally positive and encouraging; while also welcoming from the moment you walk through the doors. They also have safe and secure spaces for the kids to explore and run around without over crowding. Great communication, a lot of fun things for the kids to do and my kids love being there! Genuinely couldn't recommend them enough!”
