About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at A Child's Place Early Learning Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“We’ve just started at A Child’s Place and couldn’t be happier with the experience so far. From day one the teachers have been so warm, welcoming, and supportive — making both of our children feel instantly comfortable. Thanks to the lovely team, they have settled in so quickly and truly enjoy their time here. We’re so grateful for the care and kindness shown to our family!”
“Highly recommend A Child's Place it really is a home away from home 💗 The baby room team have gone out and beyond to settle my 6 month old, from a baby who would only co sleep to sleeping on his own in a cot settling within minutes, from refusing a bottle to now being able to take a bottle! The teachers are so warm, nurturing and educated. We are so glad we chose the most amazing daycare and are so lucky to have this in our local area.”
“I couldn’t speak more highly of A Child’s Place. We enrolled our one-year-old son after a tough experience at a previous centre, so I was naturally cautious. But Megan and the incredible infant room team went above and beyond to ensure he felt safe, settled, and genuinely cared for. One thing that really stood out to us was the primary caregiving model — having a consistent teacher who took the lead in building a strong bond with our son made a huge difference, especially as he wasn’t very familiar or comfortable with others in the beginning. He now looks forward to daycare each day — his face lights up at the mention of his teachers’ names, he runs off happily at drop-off, and I’m always greeted with the biggest smile at pick-up. The teachers are constantly engaged with the kids — whether they’re on the floor reading, outside exploring, or sitting alongside them at mealtimes, you can tell the care is genuine. The centre itself is always spotless and well-organised, and the team are incredibly responsive to any needs or changes we’ve raised. We were especially grateful for the support and advice they offered when we were navigating some sleep struggles. The care and attention to detail in sharing updates, milestones (big and small), and daily happenings make it feel like so much more than just childcare — it’s a true community and family. I’ll be forever grateful to Megan, Ross, and the team for creating such a warm, nurturing environment, and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend A Child’s Place to anyone”
“The most amazing centre in the north west! The team that we trust our babies with are so loving and caring, we walk away each morning with peace of mind knowing our daughter is loved and cared for! There is a reason they have a wait list and it’s worth the wait.”
“The next best alternative to children being at home, This team of highly experienced, professional, yet loving and kind childcare professionals provide my two children with as much love, care and attention as I would at home. They develop deep bonds with children, focusing on individual needs and catering to all personality types. They amaze me every day with their level of engagement, depth of understanding and care for my kids. My two love going there, look forward to it, are only upset when they are ill or injured. They miss it when they aren't there - if we drive past, my older girl looks dejected when she doesn't get to go in! A really well thought out learning environment, with a lot of attention to detail, rituals, calmness and freedom to develop for children. They let kids develop at the pace they are heard to. I actually wish I could spend the day there myself.”
